Bassa Mawem,
the french speed climber of the moment

Bassa was 15 when he discovered climbing almost by accident, in the context of UNSS. It quickly became a passion, that he passed on to his younger brother Mika, with whom he trains regularly. Together they built a wall in the cellar of the family home – full of small hold they use it for training ‘no foot’.

He integrated the French team in 2011, and in 2013 became both French Champion and record holder with a time of under 6 seconds. He followed this with medals in World Cup competitions.

Bassa is currently based in New Caledonia where he has set himself the target of developing climbing and making the local competition team shine.

His strength in climbing: strength and speed.
